This is the above ground structure that was built before the standard pattern, it's Air ministry building number is 3329/41 these were built on many airfield across the country. They must of been very valuable to air attack hence there replacement. There are no building plans available at the RAF archive at Hendon so this was drawn from a site visit, so far the only known surviving example of this type is at RAF Kingscliffe in Northamptonshire. The battle headquarters features a hardened concrete roof and a protected entrance way, the main commanders office features 3 loop holed windows or firing slits, the use of the other 2 rooms is not known at this time.
